THE CAUSE: More than 50 million children worldwide are on the move due to civil war, ethnic violence, natural disasters, famine, economic hardship and other calamities displacing children from their homes, cities, and countries. That number continues to rise due to ongoing global political actions and that is now compounded by the mass explosion of immigrants from the USA and other countries. If we stand together we can do something about this. THE CAMPAIGN: The Stand Together for Children project is a unique public private (P3) awareness campaign designed to amplify, educate, and raise funds to protect the rights and wellbeing of children on the move. The campaign team with combined expertise in both the creative fields as well as within the nonprofit (NGO) sector is working together in response to this humanitarian crisis. The integrated and collaborative global humanitarian project serves to raise awareness and much needed funding to raise awareness and drive action for children on the move. The campaign is centered around an original international anthem and a documentary film made by students living at the southernmost US/Mexican border. Exploring three generations of his own family’s American immigration story, filmmaker Jeff Oppenheim looks at the privileges he has come to take for granted, particularly within the cultural diversity of his native New York City. The film will reveal the push-and-pull factors causing each person's departure through a mixture of archival footage and, in some cases, personal footage or photographs contrasted against artistically filmed footage of their current American hometown. We will interview experts in the region while exploring the issues and statistics surrounding the localized issue of migration. Top Angolan Kuduristas challenged dancers of many styles: hip hop, locking, popping, breakdancing, wacking and more. In each market, dancers presented kuduro in both battle form and workshop forums to enrich the cultural exchange. Our dance crew was led by dancer/choreographer, Manuel Kanza, who was the winner of the 2008 hit Angolan TV dance competition, “Bounce”. His crew consisted of Celestino, Mirene, Oliveira, and Fogo de Deus.
